ABOUT US
TORead began as a small, personal project. Its owner, having moved from Hong Kong to Toronto, hoped to share the Chinese books she brought with her by offering a simple lending service. What started as a gentle experiment soon grew beyond expectation, becoming an online bookstore serving readers across Canada and the United States. TORead focuses on Traditional Chinese literature, niche cultural titles, and curated Cantonese-learning resources for overseas communities.
Since 2024, TORead has been hosting regular online and in-person gatherings—book clubs, author talks, book fairs, and cultural workshops—creating moments for readers to connect, exchange ideas, and find a sense of community through reading. The bookstore also shares reading notes, curated picks, and literary reflections on social media, hoping to make books and culture more accessible to readers.
In 2026, TORead enters a new chapter. Alongside books, the bookstore now curates lifestyle objects, Hong Kong-inspired items, and small-batch creations that resonate with readers who live abroad. Through booths, pop-ups, and themed displays, TORead brings books and everyday aesthetics together—offering a quiet corner of culture in the midst of daily life.
TORead also has a partnered space at Van.Y, where readers are welcome to browse, select, and purchase books in person. It is a small, steady presence—another place where our books dwell, and where readers may encounter something that speaks to them.
TORead 最初只是店主的一個小念頭：把從香港帶來的中文書分享給多倫多的讀者，於是以借書方式讓更多人能接觸到這些書。這個小小的嘗試逐漸發展成一間網上書店，為北美讀者提供繁體中文書籍、文化讀物及粵語學習資源。
自 2024 年起，TORead 定期舉辦線上與線下活動，包括讀書會、作者分享、書展與文化工作坊，讓讀者之間能夠交流、討論，並在閱讀中建立連結。同時亦於社交平台分享選書、讀書筆記與閱讀觀察，希望讓更多海外讀者能接觸到多元的中文閱讀內容。
2026 年，TORead 迎來新的發展方向：除了書，我們開始策展生活選物、香港風格物件與手作小品，把閱讀與日常美學連結起來。我們希望在海外的生活裡，帶來一些熟悉而細膩的文化質感，透過書展、市集與小小的閱讀角落，陪伴讀者在忙碌之間，找到一處柔和的停留。
TORead 亦於 「梵諭」 設有合作空間，歡迎讀者親臨瀏覽與選書。那裡是一個小而安靜的所在——放著我們的書，也歡迎讀者慢慢挑選。
